The modern, sleek DRU Metro hole-in-the-wall gas fires was originally introduced in a classic, one metre wide model with realistic logs and lively flames. DRU however has now developed a Metro series of gas fires in a large selection of models, including 2 and 3-sided versions, see-through tunnel gas fires and room divider versions ranging in widths from 80 to 200 cm. 

The Metro series is the largest collection of gas fires by DRU. These gas fires range from 80 cm up to 200 cm wide. The DRU Art and Horizon balanced flue gas wall heaters have been the most popular form of church heating in the UK since the 1950s. They also have many other commercial and domestic applications. There are nine models with heat outputs from 2.4 to 11.1 kw. They are compatible with natural gas or LPG, require no electrical supply and can be installed on their own or centrally time controlled. DRU Art and Horizon gas wall heaters are balanced flue appliances. This is a system that was developed by DRU in the 1930s and is the basis for a large number of gas heating appliances today. They draw air from outside the building for combustion using a flue with natural convection. A separate compartment of the same flue expels waste gases to the outside. The result of this is safe, quiet and efficient heating for commercial and domestic applications. Because the Oxygen is not being depleted inside the building, the heating is comfortable for church congregations, school pupils, office workers or people at home. The DRU Art and Horizon balanced flue gas wall heaters have an efficency rating of 78%. This is exceptionally good for any commercial heating appliance. Elegant and smart

DRU stoves are made in the traditional style, with a large glass window that gives excellent views of the fire. This is enhanced by an 'air curtain' that helps to keep the glass clean. The chimney can be connected to the top or back of the stove, whilst a heat shield at the rear protects the wall from discolouration

Unique burning process

DRU stoves have a unique triple burning system -

1. Primary air is pulled in from beneath the fire plate to start the combustion process
2. Secondary air from the back is fed through lower chambers to the front. Part of this is used to air-wash the glass
3. Tertiary air is injected through small holes at the back of the chamber. This, in combination with the secondary air, ensures complete pulverisation of the fuel and the burning of fumes for maximum efficiency

User friendly and safe

DRU stoves are easy to use and maintain. They have a convenient side loading door for the fuel. The ash pan is easily removed through its own door. A ‘cold-grip’ handle is provided to open all of the doors, and is kept in a cool place under the stove.

Many choices of fuel

DRU stoves can accommodate 20” or 23” logs and other solid fuels, such as coal, brown coal, coke and anthracite. A funnel is provided to feed coal to the combustion chamber. It burns slowly and gradually and can be controlled with an adjustable thermostat.
