Flueless Gas Fires - The Facts

Flueless gas fires incorporate the latest in gas fire technology and do not need a chimney or flue to operate. Instead, the combustion gases pass through a catalytic converter system, positioned at the top of the appliance, which converts carbon monoxide into harmless carbon dioxide and water vapour, levels of which are so low they are typically present in fresh air. In fact, the catalytic converter works so effectively that it can actually help to clean the air by neutralising airborne particles and odours, therefore helping to reduce household allergies.

All Flueless gas fires must be installed by a Gas Safe Engineers. Flueless fires are very popular with fitters as they are relatively simple to install and can be fitted in literally a fraction of the cost and time it takes to fit a conventional gas fire. Consquently A flueless gas fire can be fitted in minutes rather than several hours. It is an extremely simple and problem free operation Eko flueless gas fires provide a fitting template with every flueless fire that is used to help with installation and because flueless fires do not require the use of a chimney or flue for operation the servicing costs are considerably cheaper than conventional gas fires.
If the flueless fire is to go in an open chimney, then the flue must be blocked. Apart from that the fire just needs connecting and testing, and the air vent fitting. When fitting a flueless fire, it does not need to be sealed to the fireplace opening. Flueless gas fires do not have to be installed on an outside wall. As no flue is required, thousands of pounds can be saved by not building a new chimney or restoring a condemned one. Annual servicing for a flueless fire simply consists of cleaning the fire, checking the combustion, and checking for damaged components.

All flueless gas fires incorporate a catalytic converter like the Burley Flueless Gas fires. This is a honeycomb which is coated with rare metals. Oxygen ‘sticks’ to the coating. If a carbon monoxide molecule meets it, the oxygen converts the carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide (which is harmless and is present in fresh air). Burley has NEVER had a catalytic converter fail or need replacing. All Burley appliances are CE marked by international test houses.
